A Miricle

A Miracle has happened to me thanks to the staff of the Belsay Unit.

Campus for ageing and Vitality.

My Miracle after only Three Days.

Short summary of my problems were Difficulty breathing, needing help to stand up from a chair or getting out of bed. Using furniture to move around Nine times falling backwards, breaking my wrist in one of the falls.

First thanks to Prof Dr Sayer for arranging all the required tests, including her thorough examinations.

Secondly Physiotherapist Julia Williamson for jointly designing the exercises returning me to full mobility in a very short time at the age of 78 it is indeed a miracle.

Stage 1: – 20th Aug There are three stages to recovery; first is static balance, followed by mobility balance. The third is putting the exercises into practice.

Julia explained, ‘we can work together working out the exercises but you are the only one to put them into practice. You will have to work very hard for the rewards.’

Stage 2: – 21st Sept I practiced the movements many times on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. 23rd Sept this created a feeling; I want to go for a walk I had struggled having no confidence.

I left home saying I will only walk for 15 minutes then return. I expected about 100 yards each way. Instead of slowing down my pace increased, after only 5 minutes and kept on increasing by the fifteen minutes turnaround time I had walked a quarter of a mile.. The return distance took only 10 minutes for the quarter of a mile. 25 minutes is a slow pace for half a mile. I also returned breathing normally, full of energy not exhausted. Reduced a magnolia bush from 12 feet high to six feet high, filling a bin with the cuttings.

Friday got out of bed with no stiffness in any of my muscles. Continuing with the exercises and walking I have walked over 9 ½ miles plus driven 250miles over a weekend break. At 78 this is indeed a miracle a completely new life. No drugs required.

This treatment can easily be developed for Fibro myalgia and ME because they both depend on muscle use.  I hope a way can be found to put all the demonstrations on three CDs representing the three stages. For the benefit of millions of sufferers, or a documentary made. Contact me Ray Johnson.

Progression from Quill Pen to Computer.

In the days of the quill pen children all had to use the same writing tool. Some had to struggle with spelling. Because they were word blind, then the great and the good said use a dictionary. If you can’t spell in the first place you can’t use a dictionary.

Moving to modern writing aids called a computer. With its built-in spellchecker which gives a list of possible words to choose from. It is like mana from heaven to the dyslexic helping to level the playing field with spelling, but does not solve all the problems that dyslexic persons have.

All the children should be allowed to use the tools on the computer after all they are taught to use a computer in schools for when they leave school to enter the workplace.

By not allowing using the spellchecker you are penalizing and depriving the dyslexic person of a great aide.

Allowing everyone the same chance does not mean it is compulsory to use it, it means it is available if required.

I have set up two new groups for dyslexic suffers to be able to communicate with each other anywhere in the world using Dyslexic language no spell checking just write. It is the first words we learn and use I have been using it for seventy eight years.

Now I wil right in dyslexic please donot use strong language when you write to others and no relidgeious slurs. it is expected that we all muzt use academic English at all times. Each and every trade or occupation has its own genre and that is used to comunigate with outher.

Starting with children 3+ nursery age check if your child does the following

Starts trying to colour to a line then scribbles all over the rest and other pages.

Some time ago I wrote in my blog babies communicating without words this came from a question how do I cope I have no younger brothers or sisters so have had no experience with a baby. Different signs or movements indicated like or dislike one of the movement’s very clearly indicted dislike as if scribbling.

Drawing shapes to colour two very thin lines then scribbling all over.  Parental view! Loosing of temper through total frustration, now approach from a different view let her watch you draw some larger letters cut them out telling her it is her name to stick on her bedroom door. Ask her to pick the colours for each letter and colour them in her best colouring and then blue-tac onto the door in order. The benefits; colouring there will be a big improvement in her standard as you apply each letter she will see her name building up with letter shapes and it has been a lot of fun without tears then do letter cut outs for things in her room forming the word door draws each time show her how to make the letter shapes for them to colour in then do them closer to gather to form word shapes it helps her to understand that letter shapes make word shapes.  Parental view! You will have a bond with your child talk to them at every opportunity everything you see where ever you are before they can talk then they will trust your information and try to copy you some time at night you will hear them practicing the sounds before they go to sleep very quickly learning to talk then start reading bedtime stories using finger pointing to the words then building to your child doing the pointing. Going to nursery school happy to go until one day starts crying. Parent reaction you have to go without finding out the reason I asked her what was the problem her answer, ‘Nobody listens to me, My Mam the Teacher the Dinner lady.’ ‘Fine we have been great friends all along I will listen’ ‘Ok but don’t tell mam.’ What was bothering her was a boy taking her coat off her peg and throwing her coat and her shoes away. Tell him to stop or you will tell grandad and he was in the army and he will box your ears. Next day going to school skipping and dancing the boy took her coat off her peg then she said, ‘If you throw it away again my Granddad will put your ears in a box.’

If there is a problem not getting dressed and there is always a last minute rush, ask them what is wrong and listen to their answers or reasons don’t just rush in too cause confrontation. any points they bring up take up the point and ask them how they would deal with it. Eventually you will get to the bottom of the problems and then you can start to help them.   Please leave your comments.


Just ask what is a syllable? Listen to their answer then ask them to show you how to turn this word Suppercalifragalasticexpallydoshous into syllables. If they have problems take any page of writing and turn it into syllables a very simple piece of work or is it. This is the building blocks of words with no basic there follows great difficulty. Now take a subject they like example space travel and the planets you will be amazed the difference in ability.

I am passionately involved in the study of dyslexia. I was fortunately given the chance to join a writers group in 2010 there were three retired school teachers.

The chairman a retired head master and head of English. The process was everybody wrote a story and handed copies to all the other members and then read aloud to the group. I in due course read my story.  Then a lady member shouted I’m not even going to try to read this rubbish. The chairman shouted at her, ‘Say no more’ then asked, ‘if I was dyslexic?’  ‘Yes’.

From then on the whole group have worked with me teaching me how to edit my own and their work over a four and three quarter years I being the youngest at now 78. It took some time to understand the difference between reading the story and editing the story for others to be able to read.

Many questions arose over this period. One was the discussion on the length of a paragraph I found their paragraphs were too long and caused losing my place they found my paragraphs were too short but it did not affect the story. I wrote my book “Backs to the Wall 1939” Amazon kindle using writing techniques learned over the last four and three-quarter years. It is for Dyslexic children and adults over 12 years.

A conversation one day triggered off re-search into new-born babies communicating without speech another about two young sisters totally opposite then I applied my new knowledge many links clearly showed potential Dyslexia at two year old and later at school she came home with a story. My teacher can’t read this so I will read it to you a (retired teacher). there were at least 15 spellings wrong including Bcoz the point being she read the words correctly. I would like to verify this by testing others using a simple conversation. With the parents and children, the conversations could take place through Facebook or e-mails.

A research unit run by a dyslexic person is a possibility? A dyslexic person is a visionary person. Who can see each side and beyond the box. To see why and how things work

I have read many pamphlets and books on dyslexia, only to be disappointed that most of them are only interested in publishing statistics. That has no meaning for a dyslexic person who has difficulty with reading and comprehension.   Rather than working type Question and answer book of their particular problems produced by a re-search unit. Backs to the wall 1939

As I explained I have studied dyslexia for the last four and three quarter years I am 78 this was in a writing group all the members are retired three were teachers one a head master in English. We all printed a copy for each member to follow and ad their critique. After reading my short story, one Person Said I am not going to attempt to even read this rubbish luckily for me the chairman shouted at her, then asked if I was dyslexic. I had to admit ‘yes’ as if it was a disease.

From then on wards the whole group had an input every week to correct my dyslexia

Take one or two problems each week  what was wrong and how to correct them then use in my next story.  Also asking my input into their work, offering me the chance to become treasurer I did by computerizing of the book keeping. Then Continued running the accounts for four years.

This book is based on readability by dyslexics anyone over age of 12. Paragraphing plays a big part. And does not detract from the story, I would appreciate other opinions and any comments.  I am observing from birth to find the origins of Dyslexia.because of the writing group I know what to look for and how to remedy them.

Sorry for my absence

I have had my operation for crushed disc’s in my spine so missed the promotion of my book “Backs to the Wall” on the first of February.   There will be a special price of £0.99 from the 22 to 29 Feb when the price returns to £2.10 It is edited in a way for anybody to read from the age of 12 years old including any age dyslexic person.

Communicating without Words

This is parents communicating with new-born babies. Have a little think about it. You read their facial expressions even though they don’t know any words. They indicate when they need feeding, changing or had enough to eat by spiting it out or fall asleep when finished drinking. They enjoy receiving attention when they are fully awake. And smile when they feel safe. Also turn away if they don’t like a person.

They take in everything they see, in a soft voice tell them the name of what they’re looking at. This is when they start remembering the sound of words and names.

I use to take my granddaughter out in a buggy when she was only one and talk to her all the time we were out. People often commented he is talking to baby.  A year later I had a wonderful reward from my 2 year old when she said ‘Stop this is the tree where you showed me the birdies home it is up there,’ and she was right. There was a lady passing at the time. She stopped’ ‘How does she know that.’ A little voice said Because Grandad talks to me all the time he showed me this tree and the birdies home I have a home like the birdies. And he listens to me when I tell him about my dolly and we play shops.

I returned as if I was walking on air she is 18 now and at university and today she mentioned a story I told her when she was 5 about the man in the white bow tie. And the time I helped her to ride her bike and how she nearly run over me. And the funny looks people gave us when I was in the buggy.

Backs to the wall 1939

This book is written in a special style to be read by anyone over 12 years.  To be released 1st February 2016 on kindle  book store . £2.10 inc vat. The day I have a spine operation.

Backs to the wall, is about Viscount Rupert Blocky, Peter, Maurice and Harry three of his close friends. Who were evacuated to a private boarding school, for the duration of the Second World War, in the First World War it was used as training ground for the Royal Marines.

Aged nine everyone in the new intake was children of very high risk families. As they were the next generation to take over the family estates there are many families still living, experienced the threat and then the full horror of being invaded. Experiencing bombs falling like rain and the thunderous roar when they exploded. Towns set on fire buildings crashing down.

Set against this background, this was no ordinary boarding school; all the other pupils were from the same type of background. Half the week was taken up with business organising and German language, in case we were over run. The second half was fitness unarmed fighting and weapon training as we advanced in age the training became very tough. Finally going out with Commandos and completing successful missions against saboteurs, traitors and sympathisers to the German cause, their aim was to take over Great Britain.

From the age of fifteen with the war nearly ended they returned home to college until they joined university. Rupert’s previous training as a leader and decision maker he could out think many villains as he took on more responsibly for the estate while learning to become a pilot.

You will live in their story, with many hair rising adventures in-between.

The British people are made of sterner steel. The local communities had home guard and young cadets trained for joining the army, Royal Nave and Royal Air Force when they were old enough to join. Women joined the land army and went into farms and factories. To build aeroplanes, others went into factories to make shells and bullets for our fighting troops. Food was on ration and in very short supply. Teachers were in very short supply forty five pupils to a class. All pupils having to leave lessons to go into the air raid shelters.

It is a tribute to all those who kept the home fires burning and all the members of the armed forces who returned to rebuild Great Britain and the never to be forgotten who gave their lives protecting ours.
